One of Austria’s most distinctive theatre buildings, which impresses with the elegantly timeless formality of Klaus Kada’s design, provides a stage for distinguished artists and renowned figures in the arts. The international greats of contemporary dance, stars of jazz and world music and not least the building’s own resident Tonkunstler Orchestra offer a programme which is recognized both nationally and internationally. Contemporary circus companies, chamber music ensembles, on stage concerts and family events further supplement a programme which could hardly be more diverse.
In addition to this high quality, internationally relevant and emotionally engaging programme, an extensive outreach programme provides audiences of all ages and social backgrounds the chance to become active themselves, to participate and to enter into a direct exchange with the artists.
This essential attitude is also reflected in the building’s contemporary architecture: with its numerous exterior and interior views Festspielhaus St. Pölten opens up in all directions. Not only to art and culture but also to all those people who visit and help to shape it.
Since the 2013/2014 season, Brigitte Fürle has been Artistic Director of the Festspielhaus
