An exceptional artist, the most brilliant dancer of her generation, touchingly charismatic and admirable: like no other Sylvie Guillem embodies absolute commitment, fragile weightlessness, perception paired with almost ethereal sensuality and aesthetics. Sylvie Guillem is an outstanding ballerina who, apart from the great classical roles with choreographer Maurice Béjart, Akram Khan or Russell Maliphant, has built up a contemporary repertoire of works created especially for her. After her success with “PUSH” in October 2011, she now returns to the Festspielhaus with a new production in cooperation with the choreographers William Forsythe and Mats Ek. In her Forsythe and Ek find a dancer with magic charisma and incomparable technique, a curious theatre personality constantly expanding her limits, who, like no other, is ready to experiment with the most difficult movement idiom. On this evening you can experience her in Ek’s piece “Bye” to the second movement of Beethoven’s last piano sonata, Op. 111, whose Stravinsky-like modernity in the interpretation by the Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelich inspired Sweden’s most famous choreographer to a solo for the dancer. And William Forsythe created a duo especially for her and Nicolas Le Riche, Étoile des Ballets of the Paris opera.
