Fantastic paintings and poetic verses are among the most important sources of inspiration from which composers of all eras have drawn from. Claude Debussy, Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler come together in this programme: three composers whose setting to music of images and words count among the most valuable treasures of concert literature. Debussy’s «Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune» is followed by orchestral songs by Richard Strauss; the second part presents Mahler’s 4th Symphony. The enjoyment is all the greater when the words and sounds are in the able hands of renowned interpreters: Soile Isokoski, one of the most sought-after singers of our time, gives a guest performance with the Tonkünstler and Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada at the stand.
