The Nutcracker and the Mouse King

It’s Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum house and the children get the most beautiful gifts imaginable; among them a nutcracker, to which little Mary immediately loses her heart. In a fierce night battle against the mouse king, she bravely stands at his side and finally helps him to turn back into his normal self, because the nutcracker is actually a young man under a spell, yearning to be free. A Christmas story about the power of love and above all the power of fantasy. Burgtheater actress Sabine Haupt reads E.T.A. Hoffmann’s famous tale and Karl Stirner on zither accompanies Mary’s journey into the realm of puppets.
