Theatre of Lower Austria / Festspielhaus St Pölten

In the 2009/2010 season too, the Lower Austrian Provincial Theatre and the Festspielhaus will again offer a combi package with performances at both venues.

The Provincial Theatre is showing a particularly attractive choice of four productions: "Vinzenz und die Freundin bedeutender Männer" (Vincent and the girlfriend of important men), an exquisite farce by Robert Musil with the favourites of the public Nicole Beutler and Joseph Lorenz; "Arkadien", a thrilling comedy by the acclaimed English playwright Tom Stoppard with cabaret star Florian Scheuba and Josefstadt actor Gabriela Benesch; the Austrian premiere of Samuel Beckett’s  "Oh les beaux jours" with Adriana Asti in a production by star director Robert Wilson; and "Gertrud", a tender and ironic chamber play by the Swedish author Hjalmar Söderberg with Andrea Eckert in the lead role.

The Festspielhaus offers a varied classical music programme with two Beethoven concerts, interpreted by the renowned French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard, a performance with dancers of the Akram Kahn Company, a production developed within an Australian dance residency, and a concert by the Tonkünstler Orchestra, in which baroque ambiance is acted out in various styles.
