For a safe visit

During this pandemic your safety and wellbeing is of particular concern to us. This is why we have developed a policy of measures together with the Lower Austria State Health Directorate, the Medical University of Vienna and the Austrian Red Cross’s Competence Center for Event Safety Management that maintains the highest safety standards and will you enable to visit the Festspielhaus without any worries.

GENERAL HYGIENE & SAFETY MEASURES

- What are the basic hygiene measures I must observe during my visit?
- Keep a distance of 1 metre away from persons not in your household at all times.
- Avoid congested situations, especially at entrances and exits and in the catering areas.
- Wear a covering over your mouth and nose in enclosed spaces. This does not apply to persons who cannot be expected to do so for medical reasons.
- Please pay attention to our signs and follow the instructions of our staff.
- Do not shake hands with or hug anyone.
- Sneeze or cough into your elbow or into a handkerchief.
- Wash your hands with soap and water. Make use of our disinfection facilities.
- Stay away from performances
... if you feel unwell
... if you are unwell
... if you have had contact with someone who has COVID-19
... if there is a case of illness or suspected illness in your close social or family circle.

Do I have to wear a covering over my mouth and nose?
Yes. Wear your mouth and nose covering in enclosed spaces until the performance begins. Please put it back on again before the applause at the end.

Can I take off my mouth and nose covering when I am in my seat?
Yes. After you have taken your seat you may take off your mouth and nose covering once the performance has begun. Please put it back on again after the end of the performance.

What should I do if I have forgotten my mouth and nose covering?
Please contact our front of house staff.

Does the safe distance apply throughout the building?
Yes. The safe distance of 1 metre away from all persons not in your household must be maintained at all times. Please take note of the relevant markings, especially in the catering areas and in front of the toilets. In the Main Theatre (Großer Saal) the number of seats has been reduced in order to maintain safe distances between persons from different households.

Will the space be ventilated?
Yes. Our modern ventilation system draws fresh air from outdoors, which is then filtered and conditioned before it enters the space. In order to ensure that a plentiful exchange of air, the frequency of ventilation and rate of air exchange have been increased.

ENTRANCES/EXITS & ADMISSION/DEPARTURE

Do I need to come earlier than usual? When does admission begin?
Please make sure you reach your waiting area at least 15 minutes before the performance begins.The entrances to the building will open 60 minutes before the performance begins. Admission to the auditorium will start as well 60 minutes before the performance begins.

Which entrances can I use to get into the Festspielhaus?
The Festspielhaus has two entrances: 1. FOYER NORTH ENTRANCE (main entrance) and 2. FOYER SOUTH ENTRANCE (this entrance is opposite the Museum of Lower Austria). Please use only the entrance assigned to you. This is printed on your ticket. NOTE: Please be aware that you can only access the building through the underground car park if you have been assigned to the NORTH ENTRANCE.

What do I need to be aware of at the ticket check?
Entry tickets are checked contactlessly and stubs will not be torn off. Tickets will be checked at all entrances. Please then follow the signs in the venue to reach your waiting area.

What is a waiting area?
In order to allow admission to proceed in an orderly fashion, the foyer has been divided into 6 waiting areas marked in different colours. The NORTH FOYER contains the RED, ORANGE and YELLOW waiting areas, the SOUTH FOYER contains the BLUE, VIOLET and GREEN waiting areas. Each seat is allocated to a specific waiting area. Please stay only within the waiting area you have been allocated.

How do I know which entrance and waiting area I have been allocated?
Your entrance and waiting area are printed on your ticket. Please follow the signs and only use the entrance and waiting area you have been allocated. Our staff outside the entrances to the Festspielhaus in the square at the front of the building and in the underground car park will be happy to assist you.

Is catering available in the waiting area?
No. Unfortunately our bars and cafés remain closed until further notice.

Are the lifts in use?
Yes. Lifts may only used by one person or persons from the same household at any one time. Please leave the lifts for those who need them most.

What if I arrive too late?
We regret that we cannot guarantee to admit latecomers.

Which exit do I use to leave the auditorium/ Festspielhaus after the performance has ended?
In order to avoid congestion, we will ask you to leave the auditorium after the performance in groups. Please follow the instructions of our staff and do not stay in the foyer any longer than necessary. Leave the Festspielhaus directly using the entrance/exit you have been allocated.

SEATING

How are the seats arranged? Is the safe distance from other members of the audience guaranteed?
The seating is laid out dynamically with lateral distances to persons from other households of at least 103 cm in each case.

How are seats allocated?
Your seats will be allocated by the sales team in our ticket office in accordance with our safety policy.

Are there any standing places?
No. Tickets are only sold for seats.

Are there places for wheelchairs?
Yes. We are able to offer our visitors 4 wheelchair places as usual.

SALES/MERCHANDISING

How can I buy tickets?
You can buy tickets as usual online or through the St. Pölten Ticket Office. At first your tickets will be reserved by category. Around two weeks before the performance we will fix and bill your tickets. At this point you will receive your allocated seat(s).

What are Standby Tickets?
If the Corona traffic light gives yellow or green light, we can play for about 650 people. In this case, your standby tickets will be activated automatically so that you can attend the booked event. If the light is orange or red, the standby ticket expires and is automatically cancelled. The standby ticket costs EUR 24 or EUR 12 at a reduced rate (for everyone under 26) and can only be purchased at the St. Pölten ticket office. Upon activation, you will receive your standby ticket three days before the performance as a print@home ticket.

How many tickets can I buy?
A maximum of 4 tickets can be bought per person.

When can I reserve tickets?
You can reserve tickets at any time, provided tickets are available.

When is the ticket office open?
The St. Pölten Ticket Office is there for you as usual. We can be contacted by phone on +43 (0) 2742/90 80 80 600, by email to and in person at the Kartenbüro St. Pölten (Rathausplatz 19)(Rathausplatz 19) Mon-Fri 09.00 to 17.00 h, Sat 09.00 to 13.00 h.

Why do I have to give my contact details when I buy a ticket?
Your health is our highest priority. In order to contact you as quickly as possible if a case of COVID-19 were to be confirmed, we need your current contact details.

Can I still buy tickets as a guest?
No. In order to ensure contact tracing, it is no longer possible to buy tickets as a guest. When you buy a ticket you must supply your current contact details.

May I pass on my ticket(s)?
Your seat may not be changed as it has been allocated in your name in order to be able to let you know in the event of an infection among the audience. If you wish to pass your ticket(s) on to someone else, please inform our ticket office immediately.

Is the box office open on the night?
Yes. A limited sales service will be available at the evening box office on performance days only. Please note that the evening box office can only be entered from outside the building. We would therefore ask you to make use of the many ways of buying tickets in advance.

What will happen if a performance is cancelled?
If a performance is cancelled, you will be informed by us about what to do next in good time.

What will happen if I feel unwell or have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or suspected case of COVID-19?
In the event of one or several of these, you can exchange your tickets for another performance or return them. To do this, please contact the St. Pölten Ticket Office.

Are programmes on sale?
No. We are currently unable to sell programmes. However, we do provide a free link to download each programme on our website.

Are any items of merchandising on sale?
No. The sale of merchandise has been suspended for the time being.

DUTY MANAGER

Who can I turn to if I have questions when I am at the theatre?
Please consult our front of house staff. Information about our safety measures is also displayed on numerous signs.  

CATERING/INTERVALS

Are there any intervals?
No. All performances will run without an interval until further notice. There may be short interruptions during the performances for scene changes. During such times leaving your allocated seat is not permitted.

Is catering available?
No. Unfortunately our bars and cafés remain closed until further notice.

CLOAK ROOM

Is there a cloakroom?
Yes. In order to avoid congestion, we will provide one cloakroom for each waiting area. Our cloakroom service is available free of charge until further notice.

SANITARY FACILITIES

Which toilet facilities are open?
All toilets on the ground floor are open. Access to and queues for the sanitary facilities will be managed by our front of house staff. Please respect the distance markings on the floor. Wheelchair users should contact a member of staff directly, who will be happy to direct you to our disabled sanitary facilities.

Where can I disinfect my hands?
Hand sanitiser dispensers can be found in all the toilets. Contactless dispensers of hand sanitiser are also available at several points in the foyer.

PARKING AND ACCESS

Will the shuttle bus from Vienna be retained?  
Yes. The shuttle bus from Vienna is covered by the same safety regulations as all public transport.

What do I need to be aware of when travelling to the theatre by car?
You can travel to the theatre by car as usual. If you park in our underground car park, your entry tickets will be checked there. Please follow the instructions of our front of house staff.  

CONTEXTUAL PROGRAMME

Will introductions, moving introductions, audience discussions, workshops etc. still take place?  
We will do our best to offer you a rich contextual programme again this season. However, for the time being there will be no introductions to the events in our programme. Please check the relevant event pages for information about the contextual programme on your chosen date.

 

 

In the interests of your own safety and that of others, please do your bit to help make your visit to the Festspielhaus a safe and orderly one. We will only be able to apply these safety measures properly and guarantee you can enjoy your cultural experience in our theatre without any worries with your help.
