Dance/contemporary ballet  Alonzo King is regarded as one of modern ballet’s greatest visionaries. As one of the leading African American choreographers he has worked with a wide range of distinguished artists to create over 170 ballets. An innovative, geometric formal language and unconventional musical scores provide the foundation of his works. The Alonzo King LINES Ballet makes its first ever appearances in St. Pölten this season with two of his very latest works: for ‘Biophony’ (2015) sonic artist Bernie Krause created a dreamlike soundscape which leads us through the oceans and countries of our planet, while the American jazz stars Jason Moran and Charles Lloyd were King’s collaborators for his piece ‘Sand’ (2016).
