Description

With timpani and trumpets: Heinz Ferlesch and the baroque specialists from Ad Libitum and Barucco have put together a festive concert program for the pre-Christmas season that even includes a secret hit.

Vocal For over 70 years, the first eight bars of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's most famous Te Deum setting have served as the theme tune for Eurovision on radio and television, achieving cult status in the process. Heinz Ferlesch and his two top-class ensembles prove that the French composer's work has even more to offer musically than this glamorous introduction. The musical splendor is framed by an oboe concerto by Antonio Vivaldi, a master composer of instrumental solo concertos in his day, and Johann Sebastian Bach's solemn and intimate Magnificat, which is undoubtedly one of the most artistic settings of the Marian hymn of praise.

The award-winning Ad Libitum choir, which has long been known beyond Austria's borders, was founded by Heinz Ferlesch, who also directs the traditional Wiener Singakademie. Together with oboist Andreas Helm, Ferlesch founded another top ensemble over twenty years ago, the original sound orchestra Barucco, which is celebrated for its lively interpretations of baroque and classical works.
