Description
As an ode to collective togetherness, Möbius celebrates the power of community as the basis of all life with breathtaking acrobatics.
Circus/acrobatics A flock of starlings in the sky: the movements flow, circle, condense - so precise and at the same time free that they obscure the sky for a moment. In Möbius, this fascinating choreography of nature becomes a sensual exploration of the interplay between bodies and spaces. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Rachid Ouramdane, a piece between artistry, dance and poetry is created. On a white, seemingly boundless stage, 19 artists unfold acrobatics detached from classical circus forms, interweaving lifting figures, jumps and energetic movements into a continuous flow that unfolds like a chain reaction. There are no opposites, only a constant becoming - nature and culture, body and mind, light and dark.
For over 17 years, Compagnie XY has been pushing the boundaries of acrobatics and exploring the interplay between body and movement. With its collective approach and large-scale performances, it scrutinises social dynamics and celebrates the power of community. Since 2021, choreographer Rachid Ouramdane has been directing the Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse in Paris with a focus on diversity and openness. In the 2022/2023 season, he was a guest at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten with Corps extrêmes, impressively exploring the limits of the human body.
