Description
Hope, melancholy, joy, pain. The American singer-songwriter Brookln Dekker brings everything together in his touching indie folk. The spark for his latest album was a conversation with his daughter.
Indie/pop ‘What happens to us when we die?’ Dekker's daughter triggered the creative process of Future Ghosts with this question. ‘At that moment, we wrote the album's title track together,’ says the singer. The result is an intimate work about love, loss and hope. The delicately plucked acoustic guitar glistens beneath Dekker's distinctive voice. Octave doublings lend the vocals an almost angelic aura. In Popped the Top, the singer easily soars to impressive falsetto heights before unused chord progressions bring tension into play. Hero Myth then mutates into intoxicating self-reflection with razor-sharp shakers, pounding base drum and slightly dissonant, swirling electric guitar. Dekker is an experience on stage: with his oversized headgear and charismatic voice, he envelops every concert hall in atmospheric sound colours.
Brookln Dekker grew up in a musical family. He released four albums with his wife Ruth Dekker under the band name Rue Royale before going solo in 2020.
