Anton Bruckner

Anton Bruckner's music is one of Yutaka Sado's favourite subjects. So it seems only logical that Bruckner is once again on the programme when the former chief conductor returns to the Tonkünstler-Orchester podium as a guest for the first time.

Bruckner's Nullte, which should actually be called the ‘Annulled’, was not composed before the First Symphony, as was long assumed, but afterwards, as a Second that was then withdrawn. It is now regarded as an essential and characteristic contribution to the series of early symphonies. The Te Deum is a comparatively brief yet monumental work from a later period. Together with the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and hand-picked solo voices, the Tonkünstler allow the heavenly hosts to celebrate the great praise of God.

Yutaka Sado is one of the most important Japanese conductors. He was Chief Conductor of the Tonkünstler-Orchester from 2015 to 2025 and has been Chief Conductor of the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra since 2023. His career has been characterised by close collaboration with Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa as well as an impressive international career that has taken him to renowned orchestras in Europe, Japan and the USA.
