Description
In Atlas Song, the striking choreography of Imre & Marne van Opstal blends with the music of Anna von Hausswolff. Together, they create a symbiosis of the arts that brings dance and a live performance together in a unique fusion… and occasionally invites you to headbang.
Dance/Live Music Imre & Marne van Opstal, the rising stars of the European dance scene, weave a captivating choreography around Anna von Hausswolff’s catchy compositions with earworm potential: “The overarching theme of the songs revolves around freedom and self-determination over one’s own thoughts and body,” says the Swedish singer-songwriter. Universal yet deeply personal, each of us shoulders our own burdens, much like the eponymous titan from Greek mythology. Together with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, one of Europe’s leading contemporary dance companies, we now invite you to a rousing rock show that demonstrates: It is no contradiction to see oneself as part of something greater without neglecting one’s own needs.
As a creative duo, Imre & Marne van Opstal are now internationally successful choreographers after dance careers with the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and the Batsheva Dance Company. Their works are multi-layered, surreal and characterized by an eclectic dance language. Anna von Hausswolff is known for her uncompromising music, in which her soulful voice, accompanied by the pipe organ, floats in unusual musical landscapes.
