Taiko Drum Concerto
KODŌ ENSEMBLE . Yutaka Sado . Tonkünstler-OrchesterPast event
Description
Taiko: this is the name of the traditional Japanese ceremonial drum, a large instrument played with mallets, barrel-shaped or cylindrical, with an incredibly impressive musical style and sound. Call of Sacred Drums was commissioned by the Grafenegg Festival and was written by Estonian composer Peeter Vähi. It brings together a taiko ensemble and orchestra - and has fascinated an international audience since its premiere in 2008. Under the direction of Yutaka Sado, the work now returns to the Tonkunstler Orchestra and acts as a great key to further astonishing musical journeys of discovery: Fusion of a special kind.
