Voodoo magic and Viennese soul – a dialect original throws himself into the ‘Ansa Panier’ and does the honours. In addition to well-known gems, this time Voodoo Jürgens also offers fresh ‘Woar’ - in the form of a brand new album.
Austropop/Indie The Amadeus Award winner has been delivering pearls of dialect poetry for years in his relentless foray into the depths of the Viennese soul. Initially on the road as a pub bard, Voodoo became known to a wider audience through the cult station FM4. He landed his first hit in 2016: Heite grob ma Tote aus. The album ‘S klane Glücksspiel’ became an acclaimed dialect masterpiece about outsiders and regulars' table philosophers. His humour is as black as the ‘Nocht’. Speaking of which: on his third album Wie die Nocht noch jung wor, Voodoo Jürgens recently served up an ingenious mishmash: brass twists, waltz rhythms, bittersweet melancholy and Balkan flavours. The band Ansa Panier garnished the whole thing with quetschn and fiddle, bass and piano. The anticipation for Voodoo's new album is immeasurable. An album release show not to be missed.
David Öllerer, alias Voodoo Jürgens, was born in Tulln in 1983. He was co-founder of the rock band Die Eternias. Under the pseudonym Voodoo Jürgens, he released his solo debut album Ansa Woar in 2016, which reached number one in the local charts.
