An overload of fairy lights, sickly sweet mulled wine and a frenzy of consumerism during what’s supposed to be the most contemplative time of the year. Sometimes, the Christmas spirit just gets a bit too much! With his Weihnachts-Schlagertherapie (‘Christmas Schlager Therapy’), Thomas Gansch now offers a tongue-in-cheek counterpoint to the Advent festive circus.

Together with his musical companions Sebastian Fuchsberger, Michael Hornek and Leonhard Paul, as well as special guest Caroline Athanasiadis, Thomas Gansch invites you to escape into the Schlager universe of the good old days. From Connie Francis to Udo Jürgens: here, nostalgic songs are breathed new life into – or rather, blown to life. And so the quartet invites you: Step aboard the dream boat of love (Steig in das Traumboot der Liebe), where escapism and wanderlust meet on deck for a drink. This is followed by question after question: Where, where, where is Dixieland (Wo, wo, wo liegt Dixieland)? And Quando, quando, quando will Winter Wonderland and White Christmas finally arrive? The answers lie somewhere between virtuoso brass playing and witty presentation. A celebration of love – especially for the ears.

Whilst studying the trumpet, Thomas Gansch founded the cult band Mnozil Brass in 1992. Co-founder Leonhard Paul, as a trombonist and arranger, played a decisive role in shaping the band’s comedic style. Michael Hornek studied classical piano, percussion and jazz piano. Sebastian Fuchsberger began as a trombonist with Mnozil Brass and Global Kryner and later made a name for himself internationally as an opera and concert singer. Multi-talented Caroline Athanasiadis is a cabaret artist, singer, actress and presenter and has appeared on stage with Thomas Gansch on numerous occasions.
